 5K+ “Go The Extra Mile”, Rib Burn-Off and Military Exhibition

Monday, May 30, 2011        9:00am – 5:00pm      Symphony Park at SouthPark

Celebrate Memorial Day with a salute to our military heroes.

• Honor the men and women who serve our country by celebrating Memorial Day at The Patriot Festival, Monday, May 30, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall.  
• Experience an activity-filled day with your friends and family with live music, kid fun area, military vehicles, fire trucks and special military maneuvers scheduled throughout the day. 
• Enjoy seeing representatives from all branches of the military, humvees, military bands, parachutists and Honor Guard.

• Rib Burn-Off Competition and Picnic – featuring  backyard BBQ enthusiasts, local restaurants showing off their best BBQ Ribs, and an activity-filled Kids Zone featuring a Big Daddy’s Burger Bar “kids menu”.
• Live entertainment for the whole family.  
• Parachute exhibitions from the Golden Knights and the Black Daggers
  
• Mascots Sir Purr (Carolina Panthers) and Rufus (Charlotte Bobcats) will also be in attendance
• Special tribute to our Fallen Angels from the Carolinas who have given their lives serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, followed by an Honor Salute and taps at the end of the day’s activities.

PATRIOT FESTIVAL RIB BURN-OFF

The 2011 Patriot Festival will feature the 1st Annual Rib Burn-Off, spotlighting 15 of the area’s hottest talents from hip restaurants to backyard enthusiasts.

A special 5K+ run will begin the Festival on Memorial Day with runners going an “Extra Mile” in support of our wounded military. National teams, along with local runners, will be running in the 5K+ to support our troops. The 5K+ will wind down as the Patriot Festival begins at 9:00am. The Festival will open with military bands and a presentation of colors.Register at www.runforyourlife.com/events.
